DIAMOND CONSULTANTS
We encourage our clients to educate themselves as much as they can. However, no amount of reading can substitute viewing and comparing diamonds in person. In our Melbourne showroom, you can compare many diamonds side by side, and learn what to look for. We make it a priority to educate our clients and teach them to expertly compare diamonds of varying qualities and sizes and help you make an informed choice.
How are diamonds compared? How can you evaluate diamonds? Who evaluates diamonds? This is the reason why a diamond grading system and methodology were invented, and Gemmological Institutes were created.
GIA, Gemmological Institute of America are the world’s foremost authority on diamonds. They established the “4Cs” and the International Diamond Grading System™ and protect all purchasers of diamonds and gemstones, by providing the education, laboratory services and research needed to accurately and objectively determine gemstone quality. GIA graded and certified diamonds have all been independently assessed and we provide a GIA certificate with every GIA graded diamond, giving you absolute assurance and peace of mind when you purchase from Steve Pallas Bespoke Jewellery. We also guarantee that all our diamonds are conflict free.
We welcome you to visit our Jewellery showroom and workshop in Melbourne to view our diamond collection or contact us for a custom quote. Whilst we have a large selection of diamonds instore, we can source anything worldwide and we will guide you through the process to get the best quality diamond while staying within your budget.
If you lack inspiration and want to take into account the style and preferences of your spouse, we will let you see, touch, and try on our extensive collection so you can design or select something truly unique.
Below are a few Q&A’s that may help answer your questions:
What is a diamond certificate?
Diamond Certification is a document you receive from an objective 3rd party lab that describes a diamond in all its characteristics. Trained professionals evaluate, scrutinise and measure the diamonds. Not all diamond certificates are the same, a GIA (Gemmological Institute of America) certificate is the original and, in our opinion, the most trusted grading system in the world.
A diamond’s 4 C’s represent the four main components of its beauty and structure: Cut, Colour, Clarity, and Carat. When looking at a diamond, the eye perceives a balance of its characteristics and components, including, but not limited to the 4 C’s.
What are certified diamonds?
Certified diamonds are diamonds that have been graded by a gem laboratory based on their “4C” attributes of Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat Weight, allowing consumers to purchase with confidence based on the attributes of the diamond. It is highly recommended to purchase a certified diamond to ensure the quality of the stone.
Certified diamonds have been verified for quality and hold their value better than their non-certified counterparts, especially for resale and upgrading purposes.
Do all diamonds come with certificates?
Not all diamonds are sold with certificates, usually diamonds larger than 0.50ct are certified. Some diamonds that are smaller than 0.50ct that have a high grade can also come with a certificate.
